CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - 2012 Patriot League Volleyball champion Colgate (17-13) will take on No. 3 seed Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, it was announced Sunday during the NCAA Selection Show on ESPNU.

The match is set for Thursday at 8 p.m. at Gregory Gym in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns are hosting a pod that also features North Carolina State and Texas A&M. The winner of that match, which is set for Thursday at 5 p.m., will take on either Colgate or Texas in the second round Friday at 8 p.m.

The Raiders are making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 1999. Colgate also advanced to the national tournament in 1996.

Texas enters the tournament with a 23-4 record, and finished 15-1 in the Big 12. The third-seeded Longhorns had their 17-match win streak snapped Saturday with a five-set loss to Iowa State.

Thursday's matchup will be the League's first against a Big 12 school in the NCAA Tournament since American took on Nebraska in 2006. The Cornhuskers have since moved to the Big 10.

The Raiders were the top seed in the Patriot League Tournament last weekend, and swept No. 4 Lehigh in the semifinals to advance to the championship bout. Colgate outlasted No. 2 seed American in five sets to capture the title, winning 20-18 in the decisive frame.
