There are so many things that coach Cindy Opalski respects and admires about Kyleigh McAhren, a 6-foot senior right-side hitter for the Bucknell University volleyball team.
One is McAhren’s leadership qualities. She’s a co-captain for the Bison — one of the best in that capacity that Opalski has had in a long time in terms of extending that leadership throughout the team and stepping up into a position of being a role model for Bucknell.
The next is McAhren’s competitiveness, the fact that she likes to win.
“Not only does she like to win, but she really just acts as a catalyst for that competitiveness and others around her,” Opalski said from the Lewisburg, Pa., school. “It’s a really good motivation for the rest of our team when Kyleigh gets herself in that kind of mode, where she’s in a good groove and being competitive and just doing well in games. It transcends to the rest of the team.”
