Center Valley, Pa.--Army's Briana Stremick, the 2008 Patriot League Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 44 volleyball student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

A senior mechanical engineering major from Langdon, N.D., Stremick posted a 3.913 grade-point average in the fall. She was a candidate for a Rhodes Scholarship and was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team.

Five Patriot League volleyball student-athletes posted 4.0 GPAs in the fall. Deborah Frantz, a sophomore environmental studies major from American, Cassandra Ricketts, a sophomore biochemistry major from American, Sheena Czipri, a senior neuroscience major from Bucknell, Rachel Rodriguez, a sophomore accounting major from Bucknell, and Maxie McCoy, a junior journalism major from Lehigh, all recorded perfect GPAs in the fall semester.

American had 11 student-athletes on the list, the most of any Patriot League school. Bucknell placed eight student-athletes on the honor roll, followed by Colgate and Lafayette with six each.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
