Crusader Volleyball Falls To Colgate, 3-1

Hamilton, N.Y. - The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-1, by scores of 30-21, 30-27, 28-30 and 30-24, in Patriot League action, on Friday evening on Cotterell Court in Hamilton, N.Y. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 5-10 overall (1-2 PL), while the Raiders improve to 2-14 overall (1-2 PL).

For the first time this season, Holy Cross had three players tally double-doubles and had four players record double digits in kills. Sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) had 24 kills and 16 digs, while freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) set career bests in kills with 12 and digs with 20. Senior Caitlin O'Callaghan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tied her season high in kills with 12 and had a season high in digs with 14.

Junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) dished out a career high 52 assists and also added nine digs, while sophomore Meagan Merinder (Andover, Mass.) recorded a career high 11 kills. Junior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) played solid defense as she registered a season high 17 digs and sophomore libero Katie Fitzpatrick (Queensbury, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 digs on the night.

Colgate was led by Katrina Zawojski who set a school record for kills in a match with 31 and Allie Nichols who had 64 assists.
 

 

The Crusaders continue their road trip on Saturday when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to face Patriot League foe Bucknell at 6:00 p.m.
