Volleyball Defeated By Lafayette, 3-0

Easton, Pa.- The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Lafayette, 3-0, by scores of 30-25, 30-26, 30-23, in the first Patriot League match for each team, on Friday evening in Easton, Pa. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-9 (0-1) on the season, while the Leopards improve to 9-4 (1-0).

Holy Cross had three players tally double digit kills for the first time this season as sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs. Senior captain Caitlin O'Callaghan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 10 kills and four digs, while freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) added 10 kills and six digs. Junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) dished out 33 assists.

The Leopards were led by Veronica Canto-Ponce who had 15 kills and 18 digs. Vanessa Wilcox chipped in with 12 kills, while setter Megan Carter registered 24 assists and 11 digs.

The Crusaders continue their road trip when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to face Lehigh on Saturday, September 24, at 4:00 p.m.
