Volleyball Falls To Yale, 3-0

New Haven, Conn.- The Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Yale, 3-0, by scores of 30-15, 30-25, 30-19, in the final match of the Yale Invitational on Saturday evening. The Crusaders went 2-1 at the tournament as they defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) and Quinnipiac earlier. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-7 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 5-1. Senior captain Caitlin O'Callaghan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Christine Strawson (Torrington, Conn.) were selected to the All-Yale Invitational team. Strawson has received all-tournament honors in all three tournaments Holy Cross has competed in this season.

Strawson led the Holy Cross offense with 13 kills and O'Callaghan was second with seven kills. Junior Valerie Mora (San Antonio, Texas) led the team in digs with 14, while freshman Molly Anderson (Weston, Conn.) added 13 digs and also chipped in with four kills. Junior setter Chrissy Fanning (East Amherst, N.Y.) recorded 24 assists.

Yale was led by Kali Nelson's 12 kills and Jacqueline Becker's 39 assists.

The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Hartford, to take on Central Connecticut State on Wednesday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m.
