Center Valley, Pa. - Four Patriot League schools were recently named 2005-06 Academic Scholar-Athlete Teams by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), including Army, Bucknell, Holy Cross and Lehigh.

Most impressive was Lehigh's third-place ranking on the academic list, having owned a 3.493 team grade-point average. While concentrating hard on their studies, the Mountain Hawks also managed to win their third-straight and eighth overall Patriot League Championship. During the 2006 season, the Brown and White became the first Patriot League team to win two games in the NCAA Tournament, defeating No. 13 Texas A&M twice.

Bucknell came in 35th on the NFCA list with a 3.261 team GPA, while Holy Cross (3.180) and Army (2.870) were listed at 50 and 93, respectively.

The 2006 Patriot League Softball Academic Honor Roll consisted of 51 student-athletes, who all achieved a GPA of at least 3.20 during the spring semester and earned a varsity letter. Of those 51, three earned perfect 4.0 GPAs including Colgate's Erin Hanna, Holy Cross' Heather Johnson and Lehigh's Whitney Schenbeck. The 2006 Patriot League Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year award went to Lehigh's Kate Marvel.
