Two Patriot Leaguers Named Softball ECAC All-Stars

Center Valley, Pa. - Two Patriot League student-athletes were honored as 2007 Softball ECAC All-Stars it was announced on Wednesday. Included on this year's list was Lehigh's Kate Marvel and Lisa Sweeney.

Marvel was named an ECAC All-Star at the outfield position, following up her 2007 Patriot League Player of the Year award. The three-time First-Team All-Patriot League selection led the Patriot League in batting average (.415), runs (37), triples (eight) and was tied for first with 61 hits. The rising senior was named First-Team NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region for the second straight year.

Sweeney garnered Patriot League Pitcher of the Year honors for the second year in a row in 2007, as well as First-Team All-Patriot League status. During her sophomore season, she paced the Patriot League with 19 wins and a 1.47 earned run average, while striking out 155 batters. The Mountain Hawk hurler tossed two no-hitters (Harvard and Penn) and totaled five shutouts.

The Patriot League has racked up 30 ECAC All-Star selections all-time, dating back to 1992.
