HAMILTON, N.Y. - For the fifth straight week, a Colgate softball player has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Freshman outfielder Calla Yee (Salinas, CA/North Salinas HS) extended the Raiders dominance of the weekly award after she batted .615 in last weekend's four-game series against Bucknell.
Yee was 8-for-13 at the plate and recorded three multi-hit games. Her performance last week raised her seasonal average .127 points to .341. In game two of Saturday's doubleheader against the Bison, she went 3-for-3, and recorded another 3-hit game in the opening contest on Sunday.
This is the first Patriot League Rookie of the Week award for Yee, while Ashley Rowe (Tampa, FL/Gaither HS) has earned the honor three times and Kortney Hannah (Vacaville CA/Vacaville HS) once.
Colgate (9-12 overall, 2-2 Patriot League) returns to action on Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Binghamton.
