Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh freshman pitcher Heather Hamasaki has been named Patriot League Freshman of the Week, it was announced Monday. Hamasaki has been one of the best players on a Mountain Hawk team off to an excellent 13-5-1 start.

The freshman hurler has gotten off to a very impressive start to her Lehigh career, as she has recorded a 3-2 record with a 1.66 ERA in eight appearances. Hamasaki set a new Lehigh school record with a 16 K performance in a 4-1 victory over Butler during the Mountain Hawks Spring Break trip to Florida. On the season, she has had three double digit strikeout performances, and her 55 Ks overall is tied for the Patriot League lead with teammate Emily Ling.

Lehigh returns to action on Friday, March 19, with two games at the Dukes Invitational at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.
