ORLANDO, Fla. - The Bucknell softball team ended its spring training trip to the Rebel Spring Games on a strong note, defeating Jacksonville State 4-2 in the final game of the week on Saturday, March 20. The Bison went 3-5 during their trip with wins over the Gamecocks, Vermont (4-1) and Wagner (5-1).

BU's bats finally came alive in the fourth inning, breaking up Katy White's previous no-hitter with three hits in the frame. Senior Kristen Potts reached base on a JSU fielding error to start the inning. Senior Angela Stackhouse started the rally with a double to the leftfield fence, scoring Potts to snap a 24-inning scoreless stretch. Sophomore Lauren Wible followed with another double to plate Stackhouse, and sophomore Kris Devore made it back-to-back-to-back with her two-bagger that drove in freshman Megan Good, pinch running for Wible.

The Orange and Blue tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth when junior Jenny Ross drew a bases loaded walk.

Jacksonville State had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. The Gamecocks pounded out four hits in the inning, scoring twice on Samantha Gutierrez's double.

Bison junior Kelli Haskins had a solid outing, pitching a complete game after entering the previous game and throwing the final four innings. The right-hander gave up 11 hits, but allowed just two runs while striking out three and walking one.

Bucknell improves to 3-6 overall. The Orange and Blue are back in action at Siena on March 25 for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
