Center Valley, Pa.--Two Patriot League student-athletes were named to the 2009 NSCAA/adidas Women's College Soccer Academic All-American Team. Navy senior Shelly Moeller was named a Second-Team selection, while Bucknell junior forward Christa Matlack was placed on the Third Team.

Moeller owns a 3.54 grade-point average while majoring in honors oceanography. She has posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in classes within her major in four of the last five semesters and has been named to the Commandant's List in after each of her first six semesters at the Academy. Moeller held the top ranking in Military Order of Merit amongst her classmates through her first four semesters and is currently 20th in the Class of 2010. She has been named to the Superintendent's List three times, while also earning mention on the Dean's List.

Moeller was named an All-Patriot League selection for the fourth-straight year in 2009. It was the third time she had received First-Team honors. She is one of six Navy soccer players in program history and the first since Xochitl Piedra (2001-2004) to become a four-year All-Patriot League selection.

Moeller started all 90 games of her collegiate career, which she concluded as Navy's all-time leader in games-started and games-played. Her consecutive games-started streak is the longest in school history.

In 2009, Moeller anchored a Navy defense that posted a League-best 11 shutouts and ranked second in the league in goals-against average. It was the fourth-consecutive season that Navy has posted double-figure shutouts. Since Moeller's freshman season, the Mids have blanked 53 opponents. One of only three players to twice earn Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors, Moeller led all Patriot League defenders in scoring in 2009 with nine points on three goals and three assists. With 18 goals and 43 career points, she ranks as the highest scoring defender in school history.

Matlack, a biology major with a 3.52 cumulative grade-point average, became the first Bucknell student-athlete to be named to the NSCAA/adidas Women's College Soccer Academic All-American Team.

Matlack was the 2009 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after producing nine goals and two assists for a Bison squad that finished 10-8-1 overall and 5-2-0 in the Patriot League. She was also an NSCAA Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region and First Team All-Patriot League selection.

Matlack has moved into the top 12 on Bucknell's career charts in goals, assists and points. With another year still to play, she already ranks eighth in goals with 25, tied for 12th in assists with 11 and seventh in points with 61.

Both Bucknell and Navy reached the Patriot League semifinals in 2009.
