Three Patriot League Student-Athletes Named to All-Region Teams

Center Valley, Pa.--Three Patriot League student-athletes were named to the 2009 NSCAA Division I Women's Soccer All-Mid-Atlantic Team, it was announced Monday. Navy senior defender Shelley Moeller was placed on the First Team, while Bucknell junior forward Christa Matlack was named to the Second Team and Holy Cross senior forward Shelby Stand received Third-Team recognition.

Moeller was named a First-Team All-Patriot League selection this season, marking the fourth straight year that she received All-Patriot League honors. Moeller was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week a record 11 times, including three times this season. She led a Navy defensive unit that allowed just 16 goals all season and seven in Patriot League play. Since the season has concluded she has been named an ECAC Division I All-Star and an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Matlack led the Patriot League with 1.25 points per game. She scored a League-best 13 points and six goals in Patriot League contests. Matlack was voted the 2009 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. She was also named a First-Team All-Patriot League selection.

In 2009, Stand was recognized with All-Patriot League honors for the first time in her career after leading the Patriot League with 10 goals, including three game-winners. She scored four goals in Patriot League contests. 

Both Navy and Bucknell reached the 2009 Patriot League Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals. Colgate claimed the 2009 championship, defeating American for the title.
