NSCAA Team Academic Awards Release

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Eight Patriot League schools received recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently with Team Academic Awards for the 2012-13 academic year, it was announced recently.

Of those eight, five had both their men’s and women’s soccer teams recognized for academic achievement. The NSCAA bestows Team Academic Awards to those programs that compile at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average during the academic year.

The five schools to have both squads honored were American, Boston University, Bucknell, Lafayette and Loyola Maryland. Both BU and Loyola were members of the America East and Metro Atlantic Athletic conferences, respectively, in 2012-13.

The NSCAA handed out Team Academic honors to 870 teams across the country. Nearly 200 schools had both their men’s and women’s teams cited.

Bucknell posted the highest team GPAs in both genders with a 3.51 on the women's side and 3.41 for the men.
