CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Hoerner was named Patriot League Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was one of 11 student-athletes named to the Academic All-League team, it was announced Thursday. The awards are voted on by the League's eight women's soccer sports information directors who cannot cast ballots for their own student-athletes.
Now in its third year, the Academic All-Patriot League Team was added for all sports beginning in the 2010-11 season to honor additional student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The Women's Soccer Academic All-Patriot League Team has 11 student-athletes to equal the size of the sport's All-Patriot League first team.
Seven schools are represented, with Army leading the way with three selections. American and Bucknell were next with two representatives apiece, followed by Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy with one each.

She has served as a Naval Academy Summer Seminar Squad Leader.
Hoerner becomes the sixth from Navy named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's soccer, and the first since Beth Reed in 2009.
