Center Valley, Pa.- Army and Navy swept their Patriot League competition this weekend, and each sit atop the Patriot League standing with three wins and nine points apiece. All eight Patriot League squads played Friday-Sunday games last weekend, with no goals scored against the winners of all eight games. Navy Head Coach Carin Gabarra is only three wins short of 200 wins at Navy. Student-athletes from Army and Navy won Patriot League BRINE Player of the Week Awards.

BRINE Offensive Player of the Week

Carissa Youker, Navy So., F Potomac, Md.

Youker scored four goals, including a pair of game-winners, to lead the red-hot Navy women's soccer team to a perfect 3-0 week. Youker scored two goals in the 5-0 win over Delaware St. and had a goal in both wins over Lehigh and Lafayette, giving her eight points in the last three games. Youker now has five game-winning goals this season.

BRINE Defensive Player of the Week

Shelly Moeller, Navy Jr., D Milford, Ohio

Moeller was a dominant force on the Navy backline in all three games last week, scoring a goal against both Delaware St. and Lafayette. Moeller was the lynchpin of a defense that pitched three shutouts on the week, in which the Mids held the opposition to an average of 3.33 shots per game.

BRINE Goalkeeper of the Week

Alex Lostetter, Army So., GK Pittsburgh, Pa.

Lostetter posted back-to-back shutouts over the weekend, tallying 10 saves in the two wins over Colgate and Bucknell. Lostetter has not given up a goal in the last four games and has only given up one goal in the last five wins. She is unscored upon in all three Patriot League wins this season.

BRINE Rookie of the Week

Dymon Washington, Army Fr., F Las Vegas, Nev.

Washington scored both game-winners in wins over Colgate and Bucknell this weekend, bringing her total to seven goals this season and three game-winning goals. Washington has scored a goal in all three conference wins and has scored a goal in five of the last six games and had an assist in the other.

Patriot League Weekend Wrap-Up

A busy second weekend of Patriot League play is in the books, as all eight Patriot League squads played Friday-Sunday games, with no goals scored against the winners of all eight games. American kicked the weekend off on Friday with a 1-0 win over Lehigh, while Army defeated Colgate by an identical score. Navy beat Lafayette 4-0 and Bucknell beat Holy Cross, 3-0. On Sunday, American handed Lafayette its second defeat of the weekend, 3-0. Navy defeated Lehigh, 2-0, and Army defeated Bucknell 1-0 in double overtime. In the final game of the weekend, Colgate beat Holy Cross 1-0.

Gabarra Three Wins From Second 200-Win Mark

Navy Head Coach Carin Gabarra hit the 200 career wins mark earlier this season, but she is also only three wins short of 200 wins at Navy. Gabarra is 197-92-23 with the Mids in 16 seasons, after adding three more to the win column last week. Navy has five regular season games left on the schedule.

Patriot League Preview

After playing two Patriot League games apiece last week, all eight teams will get a breather this weekend and will only have one Patriot League game on the docket. On Friday, Army travels to Holy Cross for a match, while American heads to Annapolis to face Navy. Saturday's matchups include the rivalry game between Lehigh and Lafayette, and Colgate facing Bucknell in Lewisburg.

Patriot League Tournament

The 2008 Patriot League Tournament will be held Friday and Sunday, November 7 and 9 at the site of the highest seed. The teams with the top four regular-season records will qualify for the Patriot League tourney.

Team Notebooks

American The Eagles snapped a 630-minute scoring drought with Brooke Sheppard's game-winner against Lehigh on Friday. American also defeated Lafayette, 3-0, this weekend, giving them a 2-1 record last week. The Eagles will travel to Navy for a Patriot League matchup on Friday night.

Army Picked sixth in the preseason poll, Army has defeated two of the top three selections in Colgate and Bucknell over the weekend by identical 1-0 scores. This is the first time Army opened up Patriot League play with three straight shutout wins since 1993, when the Black Knights won 20 games.

Bucknell Caitlin Holtz collected her Patriot League-leading eighth assist of the year in Bucknell's 3-0 win over Holy Cross. Holtz is now tied for second-most assists in a season in program history. The Bison will host Colgate on Saturday in Patriot League play.

Colgate Freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Michlin won her fifth game of the season, and third shutout, with a 1-0 win over Holy Cross. The Raiders lost to Army, 1-0, bringing their Patriot League record to 2-1 on the season. The Raiders will next face Bucknell on the road on Saturday.

Holy Cross The Crusaders went 1-2 last week, beating Manhattan 2-0 at home and losing 3-0 to Bucknell and 1-0 to Colgate. Holy Cross is now 3-11 this season, and will host Army in Patriot League action on Friday.

Lafayette dropped to 0-3 in the Patriot League after losses to Navy and American by scores of 4-0 and 3-0, respectively. The Leopards are now 2-10-2 this season, and will host archrival Lehigh on Saturday.

Lehigh The Mountain Hawks lost to American, 1-0, and to Navy, 2-0, last weekend. Lehigh will seek its first Patriot League win of the season in Easton for a match against archrival Lafayette on Saturday.

Navy has won six straight and nine of its last 10 games. The Mids' defense not only produced three shutouts on the week, but the backline combined to produce 10 points with four goals and two assists. Navy will next face American in Annapolis on Saturday.
