Center Valley, Pa.- Two Patriot League soccer student-athletes have been selected ECAC Players of the Week for the week ending September 28, the organization announced Tuesday.
Bucknell's Kathryn Sutton was named women's soccer Division I Defensive Player of the Week, and Lafayette's Justin Kamine received men's soccer Division I Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Sutton, a junior goalkeeper from Coatesville, Pa., recorded back-to-back shutouts last weekend, totaling 10 saves in wins over Robert Morris and Marist. She had a big save late in the game to preserve a 1-0 lead in the Robert Morris win, and her eight saves in that game tied a season high. Bucknell has a 6-3-2 overall record, and will play Navy in Annapolis on Saturday in the opening weekend of Patriot League action.
Kamine, a sophomore defender from Oldwick, N.J., started at back and played the entire game on defense against archrival Lehigh. Kamine scored his second goal of the season and one of two Lafayette goals in the 2-2 tie. The goal was the second of his college career. Lafayette has a 3-4-2 overall record and is 0-0-1 in Patriot League action. The Leopards will host American in the second weekend of men's Patriot League play.
