Center Valley, Pa.- The first-ever meeting between Bucknell and Maryland resulted in one of the better results in Bison program history. Behind two goals from senior Jennifer Dervarics, the Bison upset the Terrapins 3-2. Student-athletes from Bucknell, Navy, Lehigh and Army all won BRINE Player of the Week honors.

BRINE Offensive Player of the Week
Jennifer Dervarics, Bucknell Sr., F Emmaus, Pa.
Dervarics registered two goals in the 3-2 upset victory over Maryland. The two goals gave Dervarics four goals in the team's first three games of the season.
BRINE Defensive Player of the Week
Shelly Moeller, Navy Jr., D Milford, Ohio.
Moeller scored on a header in the 94th minute to lift Navy to a come-from-behind 2-1 overtime victory at UC Davis. The goal was Moeller's first of the season and fourth game-winner.
BRINE Goalkeeper of the Week
Lauren Mains, Lehigh So., GK Scotch Plains, N.J.
Mains recorded her first career shut out against Albany in a 1-0 win where she had five saves. Mains matched her career high with seven saves in the loss to Rutgers.
BRINE Rookie of the Week
Dymon Washington, Army Fr., F Las Vegas, Nev.
Washington scored one goal in the win against NJIT and had two assists, including the assist on the game-winner, in the overtime 2-1 victory over Sacred Heart. Washington leads Army in scoring with four points, and is the leader in shots (18) and shots on goal (7).

Terrapins Trounced
The first-ever meeting between Bucknell and Maryland resulted in one of the better results in Bison program history. The Terps came in ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic Region and were second among the "others receiving votes" in the national poll. The Bison trailed 1-0 at the half, then scored three times in 21 minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Bucknell held on to win it, 3-2.
Cardinal Sin
Navy returns to Annapolis after a 1-1 road trip in which they defeated UC Davis 2-1 but lost to No. 10 Stanford, 3-1. Despite the loss, the Mids do have a reason to cheer: they are the first team to score a goal against the undefeated Cardinal.
Stanford shut out its first two opponents of the season, including No. 15 Boston College.
Plebian Power
Army freshmen Dymon Washington and Ashleigh Sheets scored back-to-back goals in the Cadets' season-opening win against NJIT. The last time Army had two freshmen score a goal was during the 2002 season.
2008 Patriot League Preseason Poll
The United States Naval Academy was chosen to win the Patriot League championship in a vote by head coaches and sports information directors in the Women's Preseason Soccer Poll. Navy received four first-place votes and 88 overall points. Following closely behind the Mids is Bucknell with 86 overall points and eight first-place votes. Colgate garnered one first-place vote and 72 overall points, while American claimed the fourth spot with 70 overall points and three first-place votes. Lehigh (49), Army (42), Holy Cross (23) and Lafayette (18) round out the poll.
Patriot League Tournament
The 2008 Patriot League Tournament will be held Friday and Sunday, November 7 and 9 at the site of the highest seed. The teams with the top four regular-season records will qualify for the Patriot League tourney.
Team Notebooks
American
Sophomore Marissa Crollet scored her first career goal against UMBC to give the Eagles and new Head Coach David Bucciero their first win of the season. American travels next to Mount St. Mary's for a Tuesday night game and visits Maryland on Friday.
Army
Army opened the season with a win over NJIT to win the 14th season opener in 23 years and 12th in 18 years in Division I play. After finishing third at its own tournament this weekend, the Black Knights will travel to St. Louis for the Toys for Tots Tournament.
Bucknell
Bucknell is in the middle of a tough road schedule, having beaten Maryland 3-2 while losing 4-1 to Rutgers. The Bison will rest up this week ahead of a match at Penn State on Sunday.
Colgate
Colgate went 1-1 at its tournament this weekend, losing to Fairfield 2-1 and beating Marist 1-0 in overtime. The Raiders will pack their bags and head out to the West Coast to play Washington and Portland in the Husky/Nike Invitational in Seattle.
Holy Cross
Holy Cross is still looking for its first win of the season after losing 4-2 to St. Francis (Pa.). The Crusaders look to bounce back with a win at Providence on Thursday.
Lafayette
Lafayette finished the week with a mark of 0-2-1. Despite losses to Delaware and Towson at the Blue Hen Classic this weekend, sophomore defender Kim Sorace was named to the All-Tournament Team. Lafayette will travel to New Jersey to take on Monmouth on Friday at 4 p.m.
Lehigh
Lehigh heads out to North Carolina to play Davidson and College of Charleston in a tournament this weekend. Lehigh opened the season 1-1 after losing 2-1 to Rutgers at home on Friday and shutting out Albany 1-0.
Navy
Eight different Mids have recorded a point through three matches this season. After finishing up a West Coast swing, Navy returns home to host Winthrop and CCSU this weekend.
