The Holy Cross women's soccer team opened their 2003 season with a 1-0 loss to Providence College at Holy Cross's Fitton Field on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Lauren Ritchie scored the lone goal for the Friars with a goal in the first half assisted by Erin Mastrodonato. For the Crusaders, junior goalkeeper Mary Dennehy (Littleton, MA) tallied six saves in 90 minutes in the net. The Crusaders best opportunity came late in the second half when Sarah Comeaux (North Easton, MA) blasted a shot that went just over the top of the goal.

The Crusaders will next be in action on Friday evening when they take on Fairfield in Boston. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
