EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team placed 18 players on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the third highest total amongst the eight Patriot League institutions.
Head Coach Mick Statham expressed his appreciation for his squad's hard work in the classroom throughout the fall semester.
"I cannot put into words how proud I am of the team," Statham said. "Their attitudes towards being positive members of the Lafayette community is inspiring. We have a team of truly self motivated students who are also committed athletes. We are very lucky to call ourselves their coaches."
Two juniors were able to complete their 2009 fall semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Mechanical Engineering major Stephanie Bereday and Economics & Business and Government & Law major Caitlin Kennedy.
Accompanying them from the junior class was Grace Fennell (Government & Law and International Affairs, 3.60), Kassidy Keller (Art and English 3.50), Mackenzie Moore (International Economics and Commerce, 3.42), Katie Roberts (Policy Studies, 3.40), and Kim Sorace (Biology, 3.50).
The sophomores lead the team with placing eight players on the list lead by Biology major Gina Milone with a grade point average of 3.75. Melissa Appelstein (Psychology, 3.57), Angela CampoBasso (Biology, 3.42), Meredith McCann (Undeclared, 3.67), Dana Moyer (Government & Law and Foreign Language, 3.67), Shannon Neschke (Undeclared, 3.25), Janelle Pierson (Government & Law and Foreign Language, 3.32), and Natalie Stone (Undeclared, 3.32) all received the honor as well.

Three freshman achieved this honor their first semester on campus. Freshman defender Bridget Becker who hails from Weston, Florida led the freshman their first semester on campus with a 3.92 grade point average. She was accompanied by Elizabeth Cole (Undeclared, 3.85) and Jillian Dozier (Biochemistry, 3.25).
Overall, 105 women's soccer student-athletes were named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Nine student-athletes were able to achieve perfect 4.0 GPAs. A student-athlete must earn a 3.20 GPA in the fall while earning a varsity letter in order to be named to the Honor Roll.
The team is in the midst of their offseason training program with their spring season officially set to get underway in a few weeks.
