Navy's Elizabeth Hoerner

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Navy’s Elizabeth Hoerner, the 2012 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 99 women’s soccer student-athletes comprising this year’s Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Hoerner, a junior honors oceanography major from Lititz, Pa., recorded a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in the fall semester.
Hoerner heads up a list of 10 student-athletes who earned a 4.0 GPA or better during the fall. Army junior life science major Jaclyn Kalik led the way with a 4.029 GPA in the fall. Bucknell had a League-high four post a 4.0 in the fall, including senior management major Meghan Fitzpatrick, senior psychology major Emily Trosch, junior biology major Chelsey Garkowski and undeclared freshman Alex Rosen. Two from Lehigh had 4.0s in the fall, including sophomore biochemistry major Sophie Mayeux and freshman engineering major Paige Elliott. American’s Mary Theresa Callahan, a senior biology major, and Lafayette’s Lauren Smedley, a senior neuroscience major, rounded out the list with 4.0s in the fall.
The list of 99 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll also boasts all 11 members of the Academic All-Patriot League team for women’s soccer that was released in November.
American and Bucknell tied for the lead with 20 selections apiece, followed by Lafayette and Lehigh with 14 each. Army and Holy Cross tied with nine selections each, while Navy had eight and Colgate five.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the semester of their sport’s competition.
