Fall 2013 Rowing Composite Schedule
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Another Patriot League sport gears up to start the fall leg of the 2013-14 campaign this weekend when the first rowing competitions are scheduled.
With the League's addition of two new full members and one associate, rowing has seen the largest membership increase of any of the League's 24 sports for the 2013-14 academic year. The additions of Boston University, Loyola Maryland and Georgetown to Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh, MIT and Navy increase rowing membership 50 percent from six to nine.
The fall's first competitions are set for this weekend, as Boston University takes on rival Boston College Saturday at 9 a.m. Colgate will compete at the Cayuga Sculling Springs in Ithaca, N.Y., on Sunday, while Georgetown races in the Head of the Potomac Regatta in Washington.
Fall competitions are staggered throughout October and early November for League teams. Defending Patriot League champion Navy opens its season Oct. 5 at the Oyster Bay Regatta in Norfolk, Va., while Lehigh's first competition is that day at the Head Race in Shamokin Dam, Pa. Holy Cross' first scheduled races are a day later at the Textile River Regatta in Lowell, Mass.
Another League newcomer, Loyola Maryland, opens the fall at the Navy Day Regatta Oct. 12 in Philadelphia.
MIT's first scheduled races are at the Head of the Charles in Boston on Oct. 19-20, where the Engineers will face League foes Boston U., Georgetown, Holy Cross and Navy among a host of other competitors.
The 2014 Patriot League Rowing Championship will take place on a date and at a site that is to be determined.
