Center Valley, Pa.--Colgate University rowing alumna Lindsey Hochman has earned a spot on the 2009 United States World Rowing Championships team, USRowing announced on Monday.
A 2007 graduate, Hochman was named to the senior national team squad which will compete at the World Championships August 23-30 in Poznan, Poland. Hochman will be in the lightweight women's quadruple sculls boat alongside Kathleen Bertko, Sarah Trowbridge and Megan Walsh. Currently residing in Seattle, Wash., Hochman is a first-time member on the team and is the first-ever Colgate rower to be named to the Senior National Team.
"We're so excited and proud of Lindsey to be the first-ever Colgate rower to make the senior National team," stated head coach Greg Krucyznski.
The 80-person squad, which includes 66 past national team members and twenty former Olympians, is broken down into 24 men's and women's crews. The World Championships held in Poland this year is a week-long event that attracts close to 1000 rowers from all five continents.
