Women's rowing became the PL's 23rd championship sport in 2005, and the Navy Midshipmen won the inaugural championship. The Mids placed 13 student-athletes on the honor roll, behind BU and Holy Cross (15). Colgate (12) and Lehigh (five) rounded out the five-team League.
Of the 63 honor roll members, five achieved perfect 4.00 grade point averages. That group included Bucknell sophomore Mechanical Engineering major Laura Roberts (Canonsburg, Pa./Peters Township), Bucknell junior Environmental Studies major Alexis Will (Sitka, Alaska/Sitka), Lehigh sophomore Arts and Sciences major Rebecca Guzman (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion), Lehigh senior Computer Science Engineering major Megan Vasta (Carlisle, Pa./Waynesville) and Navy senior Systems Engineering major Shaunnah Wark (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy).
Wark was named the Patriot League's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's rowing following the conclusion of the spring semester.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter of 10 spring championship sports.
A total of 863 student-athletes were named to the League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 53 with perfect 4.00 GPAs. Bucknell led the way with a total of 199 candidates. The Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor track & field, baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, rowing, golf, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track & field.
