Center Valley, Pa. - One hundred and forty women's rowing student-athletes have been named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, including 2011 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Tess Saxton-Fox of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Eight Patriot League student-athletes posted 4.0 GPAs in the spring semester. Bucknell seniors Anna Johnson (Psychology) and Taylor Jordan (Elementary Education), as well as freshman Ashley Rooney whose major is undeclared, accomplished the feat this year. Colgate's Natalie Bauman, a sophomore studying Economics, joins the list with a 4.0, along with Holy Cross freshman Classics major Becky Musgrave. Samantha Harztell, a Biological Engineering major, and Erin Meyers, a Mechanical Engineering major, both posted a 4.0 GPA during their freshman year at MIT. Navy freshman Kelsey Lee, a Quantitative Economics major, rounded out the list of 4.0s.
Bucknell, with 45 student-athletes making the Academic Honor Roll, led all Patriot League schools for the second straight year. MIT tallied 24 student-athletes for Honor Roll selection, while Holy Cross placed 23.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
