CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Boston University will be one of 22 NCAA Division I rowing programs taking part in the 2014 Women's Rowing Championships beginning on Friday at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.

The Terriers received one of 11 automatic bids by capturing the Patriot League championship on May 16 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The remaining 11 members of the field were announced by the selection committee on May 20.

Boston University will be representing the Patriot League for the first time, but the Terriers will be making their eighth appearance overall in the NCAA event. BU finished 18th in the 2013 field while representing the Colonial Athletic Association. Navy, the 2013 Patriot League champion, finished just behind the Terriers in 20th place in the three-day event that was also held at Eagle Creek Park.

Competition will begin on Friday morning with four heat races in each boat class. Boston University's varsity eight will compete in heat five at 9:40 a.m., the second varsity eight will row in heat 12 at 10:20 a.m. and the varsity four will hit the water at 11 a.m. for its heat race.

The top two boats from each heat will advance to Saturday's A-B semifinals, while the remainder of the crews will head to the repechages. Two repechages will take place Friday afternoon, with the top two crews heading to the A-B semifinals and the remainder competing in the C-D semifinals.

Saturday will consist of semifinal races, setting the schedule for Sunday's finals. The top three crews from the A-B semifinals will advance to the Grand Final and the remainder head to the Petite Final. The top three crews from the C-D semifinals will compete in the C final and the remainder will race in the D final.
