Center Valley, Pa.--Nineteen Patriot League student-athletes were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes, it was announced this week.
Bucknell placed a League-best six student-athletes on the list. It is the second straight year Bucknell has had six honorees. The Bison have had 17 rowers recognized since 2007. The six Bucknell rowers recognized for their academic prowess were Gillian Carter, Devon Mitchell, Meghan O'Reilly, Elizabeth Regan, Kim Weaver and Mary Wilson.
Colgate and Lehigh each placed five student-athletes on the list. Meredith Buerger, Vicky Huilt, Sarah Kruse, Allison Patchen and 2008 Patriot League Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year Meredith Remmer represented the Raiders. Recognized from Lehigh were Laura Banos, Anna Gonsiorowski, Jill Ireland, Whitney Levine and Ashley Pritchard.
Three Navy student-athletes were also recognized, including 2009 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year Kerry Hannon. Also honored were Alexandra Lado and Sierra Rooney.
The CRCA recognizes student-athletes who are at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have been members of the institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for a minimum of 75% of the spring season.
