Center Valley, Pa. - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) released its All-Region and scholar-athlete selections recently, and the Patriot League was well represented on both lists.
Three rowers were selected to the All-Region Team, with each of the honorees coming in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Colgate's Lauren Schmetterling was named to the first team, while Bucknell's Olivia Knodt and Navy's Christina Lanouette were each selected to the second team. Schmetterling and Knodt were each First-Team All-Patriot League selections.
Four Patriot League schools were represented with 21 selections as CRCA scholar-athletes. Bucknell led all schools with nine selections, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology followed with eight and Colgate and Navy notched two apiece. Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year Elizabeth Regan of Bucknell made the list, while Lanouette added the scholar-athlete honor to her All-Region selection.
All student-athletes that made the list had to record at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average through the fall semester and rowed her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event. A full list of scholar-athlete selections from the Patriot League is included below.
An honor was also handed out to a Patriot League coach, as Bucknell's Dan Wolleben was named the Mid-Atlantic Regional Assistant Coach of the Year. The Assistant Coach of the Year award is designed to recognize an assistant coach or associate head coach who meets one or more of the following criteria: Outstanding commitment to his/her program, made a significant impact on the success of his/her program and demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach.
