CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Based on their first-place finish in the varsity eight race at the Patriot League Rowing Championship, the Navy Midshipmen led all schools with seven All-Patriot League selections, announced Thursday.

Bucknell, which finished second in the race and third in the overall standings, had four total All-Patriot League rowers, while MIT, Holy Cross and Colgate each had two. Lehigh had one honoree.

All-Patriot League First Team selections included Navy's coxswain, Michaela Bilotta and rowers Katherine Ashton, Katherine Quinn and Catherine Oakley. Bucknell had two selections with Amanda Chikowski and Sarah Riessen, and MIT's Jean Sack, Holy Cross' Catherine Roy and Colgate's Kate Thomson rounded out the first team.

Navy's Kricket Masters, Molly Hanna and Shelby Taylor were all named to the All-League Second Team. They were joined by Bucknell's Jackie McKeone (coxswain) and Alaina Puff, Colgate's Macy Warren, Holy Cross' Aleks Torres, MIT's Erin Meyer, Lehigh's Corey Johnson.

Chikowski and Thomson each earned first team honors for the second straight season.

Navy scored 35 points to claim the 2013 Patriot League Rowing Championship Friday at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The Mids, who won the varsity eight and second varsity eight races, won their second title and first since the Patriot League's inaugural championship meet in 2005. Navy earned the League's first automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Championship, which will race May 31-June 2 at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.

Bucknell, which had won seven straight Patriot League titles prior to Friday's race, scored 29 points to finish second, while Holy Cross tallied 23 to take third place on its home course. Massachusetts Institute of Technology dropped back one spot from its 2012 finish, scoring 20 points to land in fourth. Colgate (9 points) and Lehigh (8) rounded out 2013 standings.

By winning the varsity eight race, Navy claimed the Boat of the Year distinction that comes with that accomplishment. Navy coach Mike Hughes earned his second Patriot League Coach of the Year honor.
