LEWISBURG, Pa. - The honors keep coming for the Bucknell women's rowing team. On Thursday, the Bison varsity eight was named Crew of the Week by row2k.com. The honor is the latest in a week that included the boat's sixth straight win at the Patriot League Championship, a sixth consecutive Patriot League Boat of the Year award, the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week honor and seven All-Patriot League selections.
The varsity eight defeated runner-up Colgate by three seconds and third-place Navy at Sunday's Patriot League Championship on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., clinching the sixth consecutive team crown for the Bucknell program.
The varsity eight consisted of Katherine Anderson (coxswain), Christina Cabiati (8), Jillian O'Mara (7), Victoria Dudley (6), Katharine Watson (5), Taylor Jordan (4), Carol Schoenecker (3), Nicole Pilling (2) and Allison Martens (1). The veteran boat included five seniors and four juniors. Anderson, Cabiati, O'Mara, Watson, Jordan, Schoenecker and Martens were each named All-Patriot League earlier Thursday.
Bucknell won an online poll that featured nearly 2,300 votes to earn the Crew of the Week honor. The Bison beat out boats from Columbia, Dartmouth and Western Washington, as well as Will Daly, a member of the USRowing Training Center. The Bison received more than 33 percent of the vote, with Columbia's lightweight freshman eight coming in second at just over 25 percent.
