CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Based on their first-place finish in the varsity eight race at the Patriot League Rowing Championship, the Bucknell Bison led all schools with seven All-Patriot League selections, announced Wednesday.

MIT, which finished second in the race and third in the overall standings, had four total All-League rowers, while Colgate, Holy Cross and Navy each had two. Lehigh had one honoree.

All-League First Team selections included Bucknell’s Katherine Anderson (coxswain), Amanda Chikowski, Emily Gladstone and Jillian O’Mara; Colgate’s Kate Thomson; Holy Cross’ Mollie Sydlowski; MIT’s Catherine Crowley and Allison Simi; and Navy’s Christina Lanouette.

Bucknell’s Alison Cohen, Gabriella Fleming-Shemer and Nicole Pilling were all named to the All-League Second Team. They were joined by Colgate’s Macy Warren, Holy Cross’ Aleks Torres, MIT’s Grace Lin and Erin Meyer, Lehigh’s Jacqueline Ogden and Navy’s Mary Catherine Walsh.

O’Mara and Crowley both become three-time First-Team All-League honorees, while Anderson was selected to the All-League First Team for the second straight season. Ogden becomes a three-time member of the All-League Second Team.

Anderson and O’Mara led the Bison in the varsity eight race, winning the event and capping their comeback in the overall standings to win their seventh straight Patriot League title. This is the third straight season the Bison have had seven All-League selections, and Patriot League Coach of the Year Stephen Kish has had 26 different student-athletes combine for 37 All-League citations since 2006.

Bucknell scored 34 points on Sunday at Cooper River Park in Camden County, N.J., winning the varsity eight (6:48.54) and the varsity four (7:54.67) races. The Bison’s win in the varsity eight erased a one-point deficit to Navy, which is what they had to do last year at Lake Quinsigamound in Worcester, Mass.

By winning the varsity eight race for the seventh straight year, Bucknell once again claimed the Boat of the Year distinction that comes with that accomplishment. Kish earned his sixth Patriot League Coach of the Year honor in the last seven seasons.
