Women's Rowing Competes in ECAC Regional Championship on Sunday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's rowing team will take part in its second championship regatta in as many weeks when it travels to West Windsor, N.J., for the ECAC Mid-Atlantic/New England Region Championship on Sunday.

Navy (10-5) will compete for the ECAC crown in the first varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight races.

The Last Time Out
Behind a first-place finish by the varsity four crew, the Navy women's rowing team took second place at the Patriot League Championship on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Navy's title in the varsity four race was its second consecutive and fourth overall.

Navy took third place in the varsity eight race, while Bucknell took home the championship as it placed first in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight races.

Last Season at the ECAC Region Championship
Navy won the title in the varsity four petite final and placed in two other events at last year's ECAC Region Championship. The Mids placed second behind Bucknell in the varsity eight and varsity four finals.

Romero and Lado Garner All-Patriot League Honors
Navy senior rowers Michelle Romero and Alexandra Lado were selected to the All-Patriot League Teams, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday. For the second consecutive year, Romero earned a spot on the All-Patriot League first team, while Lado received second team honors for the first time her career.

Coach Mike Hughes on this weekend's ECAC Championships...

"We have a good opportunity to win this thing. With no heats this year and just a final, we'll have to be ready to go right away. It should be a barn-burner and we'll come out aggressive."
