Center Valley, Pa. - Eleven student-athletes were named to the 2009 All-Patriot League Rowing Team, all of whom participated in the varsity eight race at the 2009 Patriot League Rowing Championship that took place on April 26 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. Bucknell placed a League-high four student-athletes on the All-Patriot League squad as a result of winning the first varsity eight race at the Patriot League Championship. Navy had three student-athletes earn All-Patriot League status, while Holy Cross had two and both Colgate and Lehigh had one.

The composition of the All-Patriot League rowing team is based on the team's finish in the first varsity eight race at the Patriot League Championship. The first-place team is allowed three rowers and one coxswain, the second-place boat is allowed three rowers and the third-place boat can place two rowers on the All-Patriot League team. Both fourth and fifth-place finishers are allowed one rower on the All-Patriot League team.

The finish in this year's first varsity eight race was, in order, Bucknell, Navy, Holy Cross, Colgate and Lehigh.

Bucknell's All-Patriot League selections were seniors Jeweliet Yost, Page Kannor, Whittney Henry and Kelly Henkler. Yost was honored as the League's coxswain selection for the third straight season as Bucknell won its fourth consecutive Patriot League Championship. Henkler (2006, 2007) has now been named to the All-Patriot League Team three times, while Henry (2007) has been placed on the team twice. It is the first time that Kannor has received the honor. The Bison claimed Patriot League Boat of the Year honors for the fourth year in a row with their win in the first varsity eight race with a time of 6:46.06 and won the overall Patriot League Championship title for the fourth consecutive season. In addition, Bucknell head coach Steve Kish was named Patriot League Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.

Navy's first varsity eight boat came in second at the championship in a time of 6:50.21, allowing the Mids to place senior Gretchen Driessnack, junior Stephanie Rockford and sophomore Sierra Rooney on the All-Patriot League squad. It is the first All-Patriot League selection for all three.

Seniors Clare Bracikowski and Johanna Cubelli represent Holy Cross on the All-Patriot League Team follwing a third-place finish in the first varsity eight competition. It is the first time each of them has been selected to the All-Patriot League Team.

Colgate finished fourth in the first varsity eight race in a time of 7:10.04 and named senior Meredith Remmer to the All-Patriot League Team for the second time in her career (2008).

For Lehigh, sophomore Jennifer Lance was tabbed an All-Patriot League selection for the second consecutive season after the Mountain Hawks' fifth-place showing in the first varsity eight race in a time of 7:24.39.

The overall finish at the 2009 Patriot League Championship was Bucknell (30 points), Navy (24), Holy Cross (16), Colgate (9) and Lehigh (9). Bucknell won all three championship events - Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and First Varsity Eight.
