Center Valley, Pa. – Wednesday, Feb. 2 marked the 25th celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), and the Patriot League is once again proud to mark the occasion with its annual Women in Sports magazine. In addition, six League institutions will be hosting activities linked to their own celebrations of NGWSD in conjunction with women’s basketball games, while two schools held theirs in January.

This year’s NGWSD theme is “Play, Believe, Achieve.” This year, in light of it being the Patriot League's 20th Anniversary season, the League’s Women in Sports magazine features five former and two current two-sport student-athletes whose efforts to balance the rigors of their academic lives with the demands of Division I athletics exemplify this year’s NGWSD theme.

American and Army will host their NGWSD events on Saturday. At Bender Arena in Washington, D.C., the Eagles will host Lehigh for a 2 p.m. tip off. Following the game, each of American's seven varsity women's teams will lead skills clinics and sign autographs for kids of all ages in attendance on the floor of Bender Arena. American will also host its WBCA Pink Zone and Pack the House Challenge.

Army will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day along with holding its WBCA Pink Zone. Clinics with the women's basketball, women's soccer, volleyball and softball teams are all planned for that morning, followed by a pizza party from 12-1 p.m.

Lehigh returns home to host Navy Wednesday at Stabler Arena, and the Mountain Hawks will host their NGWSD events in conjunction with the contest against the Midshipmen. Both Bucknell and Colgate will hold their celebrations on Saturday, Feb. 12, when the teams host Holy Cross and American, respectively. Holy Cross will hold its NGWSD celebration Feb. 19 when it hosts American.

Lafayette hosts its NGWSD activities Jan. 8 in conjunction with the Leopards’ game against Holy Cross, while Navy held its one week later on Jan. 15 against Lafayette. The Mids also hosted their Pink Zone event that night.

At all of the upcoming events, schools will be handing out t-shirts and copies of the Patriot League's Women in Sports magazine.
