Center Valley, Pa. - Bucknell's Alyssa DeLorenz , the 2009 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 79 women's lacrosse student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
DeLorenz, a sophomore Accounting major, earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester in Lewisburg. On the field, DeLorenz was the 2009 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and helped Bucknell reach its first Patriot League Tournament since 2006.
Joining DeLorenz on the Academic Honor Roll are three other student-athletes with 4.0 grade-point averages for the spring semester. Kira Sonberg of American earned a 4.0 in her senior spring. The Millersville, Md. product is majoring in Elementary Education. Cami Thompson is a freshman Political Science major at Holy Cross and earned a 4.0 for her first spring semester away from Rockville, Md. Rounding out the list is Lehigh's Sarah Fundin, a senior Marketing major from Delmar, N.Y.
Holy Cross led all Patriot League schools with 16 student-athletes making the Honor Roll list. Colgate, American and Lafayette were close behind with 15, 14, and 14 student-athletes respectively.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
