On her first day of lacrosse practice at the College of the Holy Cross, Taylor Zebrowski looked around and asked herself, 'What have I gotten myself into?'
Just a few months earlier, Zebrowski had completed a wonderful career at Verona High School, where she holds the school scoring records in both soccer and lacrosse. She was perhaps the biggest fish in a small pond.
But she quickly learned that Division I lacrosse is a whole different body of water.
"You quickly realize that you might be pretty good," Zebrowski said. "So is everyone else. That's why they're here."
But adjusting to that new reality came quick for the Verona native, who finished up her sophomore season last month. Zebrowski emerged as a regular for the Crusaders very quickly, earning playing time in a very competitive environment. By year two, she settled into a key starting role as one of Holy Cross' leading scorers (21 goals this season, second-best on the team). That part, at least, is nothing new.
