Three Patriot Leaguers Selected to IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

Center Valley, Pa. - Three Patriot League standouts have been selected to play in the annual Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Senior All-Star Game. Navy's Kierstin King, Lehigh's Leigh Ann Torcivia, and Colgate's Courtney Miller will represent the Patriot League during the 2012 North-South game on June 16 at the United Sports Training Center in Downington, Pa.

King, the 2012 Navy team captain, earned her third career all-league accolade this season when she was named to the first team. King led Navy with 36 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers and graduates as the school's all-time leader in ground balls (153) and games started (72).

King was the on-field leader of a defensive unit that held a goals-against average of 8.29, the best in program history. Navy also ranked sixth in the country in scoring defense this season.

Torcivia enjoyed a stellar career, earning All-Patriot League honors each of her four years while garnering All-Region laurels as a junior as well. The team co-captain transitioned from defense to midfield this season and impressed on both ends of the field. Along with her 44 points, she also posted a team-leading 36 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers while finishing second with 37 draw controls. Torcivia finished her career with 50 points (44 this season), 163 groundballs, 159 draw controls and 58 caused turnovers. Strong in the classroom, she garnered Academic All-Patriot League distinction as well.

Miller closed out an outstanding career with a banner season to earn the Patriot League Midfield Player of the Year honor. She finished her time at Colgate eighth in Patriot League history in points (241) and goals (168), ninth in assists (73) and third in draw controls (201), becoming only the third student-athlete in the top 10 in all four categories. Miller tied for the Patriot League lead with 59 goals and added 17 assists to total 76 points, leading the conference with 4.47 points per game. She became the third women's lacrosse student-athlete to earn four first-team All-Patriot League honors in her career.

Torcivia and Miller will play on the North squad facing off against King who will play on the South squad.
