CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League placed five players on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Star Team on Thursday, with Annie Thomas on the first team to lead a group of four from League champion Loyola University Maryland.
Thomas, a junior and the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, was the lone first-team selection from the Patriot League. Senior Marlee Paton and junior Taryn VanThof made the second-team midfield from Loyola, while sophomore Maddy Lesher was a second-team defender. Navy junior Loren Generi made the second team at attack.
In addition to earning first-team All-Patriot League status, the quartet of Loyola players was all previously awarded All-America honors by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA). Paton was on the second team, while Thomas, Lesher and VanThof made the third team. Paton was also the Patriot League Midfield Player of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player, while Lesher was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year.
Paton finished with 49 goals and 26 assists for the season. Thomas recorded 40 goals and 39 assists for the year, while VanThof finished with 31 goals, nine assists and a single-season League record 122 draw controls. Lesher led the way for the Greyhound defense.
Generi had a big season for Navy with 46 goals, 34 assists and 111 draw controls. She earned first-team All-Patriot League honors and was one of eight Patriot Leaguers named to the IWLCA All-Region Team.
Syracuse University sophomore Kayla Treanor was selected as the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, while University of Maryland teammates Megan Douty and Zoe Stukenberg were tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, respectively. The voting for the 2014 ECAC Division I Women's Lacrosse All-Star teams and major award winners was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division I Women's Lacrosse membership.
