Center Valley, Pa. - Colgate earned the Patriot League's automatic berth to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship and will travel to face No. 2 Maryland in the first round of the tournament on Sunday at Noon in College Park. This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The winner of Colgate/Maryland will play the winner of Syracuse/Boston University in the tournament's second round.

Patriot League In The NCAA Tournament
No Patriot League squad has ever won an NCAA Tournament game, with an 0-8 record in the first round. In 2008, Colgate defeated Marist, 19-18, in the play-in game to advance to a first-round tournament matchup with No. 2 Penn. The Raiders then fell, 16-7, at Penn. In 1991, Lafayette fell to Penn State by a score of 11-9.
Colgate Makes Fourth Appearance
Colgate will play in its fourth NCAA Tournament as a League member. The Raiders previously lost first-round games in 2004 (Princeton, 18-6), 2005 (Boston University, 12-6) and 2008 (Penn, 16-7). The Raiders did win a play-in game to make last year's Tournament.
RPI Ranking Released
The latest RPI rankings show Colgate at No. 24 in the nation. Here is where all of the Patriot League teams stand: 24. Colgate 32. Lehigh 42. Navy 52. Bucknell 63. Holy Cross 71. Lafayette 76. American
Championships
With its second-straight and fifth overall title, Colgate remains second in the League with the most women's lacrosse championships. Lafayette leads the League with 10 championships.
