Lafayette women's lacrosse coach Melissa Michels has resigned following her first season on College Hill. A search for her successor will begin immediately.

"I've enjoyed my time at Lafayette but I am looking forward to pursuing exciting professional options in Kansas City, Mo.," said Michels.

In her first season as head coach, Michels led the team to its return to the Patriot League Tournament, which it had missed in 2003. The team finished its season with a loss to eventual Patriot League Champions Colgate in the first round of the tournament. Lafayette ended with a 4-14 record, along with having three members of the 2004 squad named to the All-Patriot League team.

The Lafayette women's lacrosse program has captured 10 Patriot League titles in 14 seasons of conference play, recording an all-time Patriot League record of 54-11. The Leopards have made 17 postseason appearances, including four trips to the NCAA Championship Tournament and a National Championship run in 1981.
