Center Valley, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore Alyssa DeLorenz was voted the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a vote by League women's lacrosse sports information directors, it was announced on Wednesday. DeLorenz is the fourth Bison overall and first since Suzanne Raffaele earned the award in 2003.

DeLorenz, an accounting major from Garland, Texas, has a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average. The sophomore has done considerable volunteer work at retirement and assisted living homes, and has participated in Christmas caroling and designing Valentine's Day cards at Maria Joseph Manor. DeLorenz is heavily involved with Bucknell's Catholic Campus Ministry and serves as its Director of Spiritual Life and Evangelization. The sophomore has also received the President's Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement.

On the field, DeLorenz is the 2009 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and has helped Bucknell reach its first Patriot League Tournament since 2006. DeLorenz is a four-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, including three consecutive weeks in March. The sophomore has helped the Bison to their first nine-win season since 1998, while the four Patriot League wins equal a school record. DeLorenz has posted double-digit save totals nine times this season, including a career-high 17 in an 8-7 win over Binghamton, and is currently second in the League for saves.

To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.

The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each individual sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for this honor.
