Colgate Women's Lacrosse Tops Albany For Fifth-Straight Victory

The Colgate women's lacrosse team won its fifth straight game Wednesday night after a 16-7 beating of Albany. Sophomore Kim Corcoran led the way for the Raiders with four goals and one assist.

The two teams battled back and forth in the first half with the lead changing hands three times. Albany took an early 1-0 lead at 23:37 on a goal by Maria Ferrucci. Colgate battled back with three goals in 41 seconds. Rebecca Sandler scored the Raiders first goal, then Katie McVeigh on a pass from Eden Haladay made it 2-1. Freshman Kelly Winning made it 3-1 on a feed from Katie McVeigh. The Raiders would hold a one-goal advantage heading into halftime.

Colgate then exploded for nine goals in the second half. Outscoring the Great Danes 9-1 en route to a nine goal victory. The Raiders scored four free-position goals in the second half. Two from Sandler and two from Corcoran.

Colgate is now 9-5 overall and 5-4 against non-conference opponents. The Raiders are next in action Saturday, April 19 when they travel to Lehigh for their final Patriot League contest of the regular season. Game time is set for 1 p.m
