Center Valley, Pa. - Two-time defending Patriot League women's lacrosse champion Navy will go for a third consecutive title on its home field, as the Mids wrapped up the outright regular-season crown and the right to host the League Tournament on April 27 and 29 after beating American 19-6 on Friday in a game shown on CBS Sports Network.
Navy improved to 5-0 in the Patriot League, assuring itself of its first outright regular-season title in its five seasons in the League. The Mids previously shared the regular-season crown with Lehigh in 2010.
The Mids will now play as the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament, which will be held at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on April 27 and 29. The semifinals on April 27 will be played at 5 and 7:45 p.m., with the championship two days later at 12 p.m. Navy will be the fifth team in the last six seasons to host the Patriot League Tournament.
Navy will be making its fifth consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearance, tied for the fourth-longest streak in League history. Colgate and Holy Cross clinched their spots in the field with wins on the road Saturday. The last spot is down to Lafayette and American, with the Leopards clinching the berth if they win at Holy Cross on Saturday and American making the field if Lafayette loses the finale.
