Center Valley, Pa. - Colgate's Brie Moran scored 10 goals and had 12 points in the Raiders' 19-9 win over Holy Cross, tying school records for goals and points scored in a single game. Bucknell and Colgate have moved to 2-0 in the Patriot League after wins on Saturday. Numerous Patriot League teams and players are among the top-10 in various NCAA statistical categories. Student-athletes from Colgate, Navy and Bucknell earned Patriot League Player of the Week laurels.

Offensive Player of the Week

Brie Moran, Colgate Jr., A, Little Silver, N.J.

Moran tied Colgate school records for goals (10) and points (12) in a single game in the Raiders' 19-9 win over Holy Cross. The junior is this season's NCAA Division I leader for most goals in a game, through March 8, and most points in a game, through March 12. Moran also added two goals and an assist in Colgate's 11-10 overtime win over Albany.

Defensive Player of the Week

Caitlin Mandrin Hill, Navy So., M/D, Annapolis, Md.

Mandrin Hill had six groundballs last week in two Navy wins over Canisius and Niagara. The sophomore also had two goals, including the game-winner, and five assists in the Mids' comeback win over Canisius. Mandrin Hill tallied two draw controls and five caused turnovers for the week.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Alyssa DeLorenz, Bucknell So., Garland, Texas

DeLorenz surrendered a career-low four goals in Bucknell's 6-4 Patriot League win over American on Saturday, bouncing back from a tough mid-week outing at Duquesne. The sophomore had a .692 save percentage against the Eagles with nine saves in the game. DeLorenz picked up 10 saves in Bucknell's 20-10 loss at Duquesne.

Rookie of the Week

Kierstin King, Navy Fr., A, Upperco, Md.

King netted four goals in two games last week, including three goals at Canisius. The freshman also added two assists, one groundball and three draw controls in the game, and averaged two goals, one assist and three draw controls in the two games last week. She also leads all Navy freshmen in scoring.

Patriot League Recap

After the second weekend of Patriot League play, all seven teams have now played at least one League game. Bucknell and Colgate sit atop the Patriot League standings at 2-0. Bucknell handed American its second League loss of the season in a tight 6-4 game, while Colgate handed Holy Cross its first Patriot League loss of the season with a 19-9 finish. Lehigh and Lafayette renewed their rivalry last weekend, with the Mountain Hawks earning their first League win of the season in Easton, 14-7. Navy had no League contests last weekend.

Patriot League Preview

With Colgate finishing up its West Coast swing at Oregon on Saturday, the remaining six Patriot League teams will lock horns Saturday afternoon. At 1 p.m., American takes on Lehigh in Bethlehem and Lafayette travels to Lewisburg to take on Bucknell. In the final game of the day, Navy faces Holy Cross in Worcester at 3 p.m.

Top of the Class

There were numerous Patriot League teams and players among the top-10 in various NCAA statistical categories in the most recent statistics report (March 10). On the team side, Navy was the second-rated scoring offense at 16.75 points per game. The Mids were also fifth in scoring defense (7.00) and third in scoring margin (9.75). Colgate was fourth in the nation with 27 groundballs per game and tenth in scoring defense (8.00). As of March 10, Bucknell was eighth in the nation in win percentage at .800.

Individually, Erin Rawlick was tops in the nation in assists per game (4.00) and third in points per game (6.00). Bucknell's Julia Braun led the nation in groundballs per game with 4.80, followed by Lehigh's Lauren Dykstra in fifth (4.25) Dykstra's teammate Allison Thomas in the eighth position (4.00). Navy freshman goalkeeper Elaina Ponchione was fifth in the nation with a 6.92 goals-against average and fourth in save percentage (.578).

2009 Patriot League Tournament

The 2009 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Championship will once again use the two-day format that gives a day of rest in between the semifinals and the championship game for the top four teams in the Patriot League. The tournament will be held at the highest seed on Friday, April 24 and Sunday, April 26.

Team Notebooks

American The Eagles fell to Columbia, 9-6, and Bucknell, 6-4, last week. Senior midfielder Leslie Fischer had three goals and one groundball on the week for American, which fell to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in Patriot League play. The Eagles look to bounce back with a win against Lehigh on Saturday in Bethlehem.

Bucknell Bucknell is now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League after losing 20-10 to Duquesne and winning 6-4 at American last week. The Bison have already surpassed last season's League win total and are within one of their overall win total from 2008. Bucknell will host Binghamton on Wednesday and Lafayette on Saturday afternoon.

Colgate Colgate is set to begin a three-game, West Coast road trip on Monday with games at UC Davis, St. Mary's (CA) and Oregon after going 2-0 last week. The Raiders defeated Albany, 11-10, in Head Coach Heather Bliss' first-ever overtime game, and beat Holy Cross, 19-9. Colgate is now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League.

Holy Cross The Crusaders' Lisa Gagne picked up nine groundballs in two Holy Cross losses to Siena and Colgate last week. With the losses, the Crusaders fell to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in Patriot League play. Holy Cross will look to pick up a pair of wins over Boston College and Navy this week.

Lafayette Lafayette fell 14-7 to archrival Lehigh on Saturday. Sophomore Lauren Brown scored three goals and had four draw controls in the loss. The Leopards will look to get in the win column against Louisville on Wednesday and at Bucknell on Saturday.

Lehigh Freshman attacker Kelly Draper continued her impressive rookie campaign with three goals and three draw controls in two games for the Mountain Hawks last week. Lehigh fell 10-7 to Fairfield but bounced back with a 14-7 win at Lafayette, its first League win of the season. Lehigh begins a three-game homestand on Wednesday with Columbia before welcoming American on Saturday.

Navy Navy has won three straight games, including its last two on the road at Canisius and Niagara, and five of six games headed into its first League road test on Saturday at Holy Cross. The Mids have held four of its six opponents to six or fewer goals this season.
