Center Valley, Pa. - Navy senior Erin Rawlick and Lehigh junior Lauren Dykstra have been named to the 2010 Preseason Tewaaraton Watch List, it was announced Friday by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance. The list is made up of top lacrosse players across all three NCAA divisions who are screened by a selection committee. The Tewaaraton Award was formally introduced in 2000 and is given annually to the NCAA men and women's lacrosse players of the year.
Rawlick is having an outstanding season for the Midshipmen, as she has led the program to a 7-0 record and its best start in Academy history. She currently leads the nation in goals (34) and points (52), while sitting second in assists (18). She's second in the country with 7.43 points per game, third with 4.86 goals per contest and fifth with 4.86 draws controlled per game. The senior's 156 career goals is tied for seventh all-time in Patriot League annals, while her 79 career assists are fourth and her 235 points are sixth.
Dykstra was voted as the Patriot League's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. She has scored nine goals in three games for the Mountain Hawks this season. She is tied for third in the League with three goals per game and is in a third-place tie with three points per contest. Last season, the junior had League highs in goals (67), free-position goals (18) and game-winning tallies (six), while leading the League with 3.94 goals and 4.82 ground balls per game. She was also best in the League in shots (138) and shots per contest (8.12).
In all, 52 student-athletes are on the list representing 35 institutions, 14 states, Canada and Australia. The award will be presented on June 3 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
