EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette field hockey head coach Andrew Griffiths was named the NFHCA All-Mideast region Coach of the Year, it was announced Wednesday.

Griffiths led the Leopards to a 17-3 record this season and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Lafayette was the first Patriot League team to earn an at-large bid to the tournament.

The Patriot League Coach of the Year, Griffiths' Leopards captured the Patriot regular-season title with an undefeated mark and won the League Tournament for the second year in a row. Lafayette fell to eventual national champion Princeton in the NCAA Play-In Game, 6-0 on Nov. 6, but earned an at-large bid to the tournament in large part due to two wins over top-25 teams during the regular season in Drexel (No. 15 on 9/14) and Albany (No. 21 on 9/22).

Lafayette fell to Maryland, 2-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Storrs, Conn. on Nov. 11. The Division I National Coach of the Year will be announced by the NFHCA on Dec. 17.
