Center Valley, Pa.--Two American University student-athletes have been named to the 2008 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Team, as announced Monday by the NFHCA office. Senior Irene Schickhardt was placed on the first team, while sophomore Christine Fingerhuth was named to the third team.

Schickhardt, the 2008 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, earned First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors for the third time in her career in 2008. Schickhardt finished her career ranked second in Patriot League history in career points (142), second in assists (42) and fourth in goals (50). She was named First-Team All-Patriot League selection for the third straight year and earned Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year this season. She led the League and her team with 45 points and scored a team-high eight game-winning goals.

Fingerhuth was named Patriot League Tournament Most Valuable Player after helping the Eagles to their sixth straight title. The sophomore was named First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region and First-Team All-Patriot League after posting a 22-point season. She registered 10 goals and two assists, including four goals in League play despite missing a game to play for her native Chile in the Junior Pan American Games. Fingerhuth ranked second on her team in points.

American won its sixth straight Patriot League Championship in 2008. The Eagles defeated Lock Haven in the NCAA play-in round to advance to the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to national runner-up Wake Forest.
