WASHINGTON, D.C. - The top-seeded American Eagles advanced to the Patriot League Championship game for the third-straight year with a 7-0 win over No. 4 Lehigh, while No. 3 Holy Cross defeated No. 2 Bucknell by a score of 3-1.
American and Holy Cross will meet tomorrow at noon in the title game of the 2005 Patriot League Field Hockey Championship at William I Jacobs Recreation Complex. As the No. 1 seed the last three seasons the Eagles have not dropped a championship game. The Crusaders have three championship titles, to the Eagles' two.
Camila Infante (Santiago, Chile/Santiago), Kaitlin DeTroia (North Cadwell, N.J./W. Essex Regional) and Tiffany Carter (Yardly, Pa./The Hun School of Princeton) all netted a pair of goals in the Eagles' 7-0 victory over Lehigh. Heidi Hershberger (Davis, Calif./Davis) added the other tally. Infante opened the scoring four minutes into the game, with DeTroia deflecting the next two in goal to close out scoring in the first half. All four goals in the second stanza were unassisted. The Eagles outshot the Mountain Hawks 24-5. Lehigh's Maureen Harrington (Windham, N.H./Derryfield) was the only Mountain Hawk to put a shot on goal with two.
American goalie Allison Fayfich (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) recorded two saves, while Lehigh's Meghan Gove (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) came up with 10.

The Bison struck early in the game when Kelly O'Brien (Rye, N.Y./Rye) scored a goal from Ann Lutz (Allentown, Pa./William Allen), but that would be the only goal the Orange and Blue would put up. The Crusaders tied the game on a Sara O'Coin (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) goal, which stood through the rest of the first half. With six minutes left in the game Jenna Cook (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) broke the tie, scoring her 11th goal of the season. The Crusaders added another goal when Laura Cohen (Summit, N.J./Kent Place) connected on a penalty shot with three minutes remaining.
Holy Cross goalkeeper Sony Kuhn (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) recorded five saves, while Liz Jordan (Towson, Md./St. Paul's) had nine. Jordan ended her career with 475 saves, eighth all-time in League history.
The Crusaders improve to 10-9 overall (3-2 League), while the Bison head home 8-10 overall, including a 4-1 League record.
