Patriot League Field Hockey Championship Page
All four seeds are set for the upcoming Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament that will take place Friday-Saturday, Nov. 2-3. American earned the right to host the tournament in Washington, D.C. last week and finished 5-0 in the Patriot League. The Eagles will be the No. 1 seed in the tourney. Joining American will be No. 2 Lehigh (3-2), No. 3 Lafayette (2-3) and No. 4 Colgate (2-3).
The regular-season standings saw three teams at 2-3 in the Patriot League with just two spots remaining. Lafayette, Colgate and Holy Cross were all tied for third in the League.
Lafayette captured the No. 3 seed with a win over the second seed, Lehigh, earlier in the year, since all three teams in the tie went 1-1 against each other.
Colgate won out the No. 4 seed because of a better record versus common out-of-league opponents with Holy Cross, including St. Francis (Pa.), New Hampshire, Albany, Cornell and Columbia. Colgate went 3-2 versus the group of common out-of-league opponents, while Holy Cross only went 1-4. See below for the Patriot League's full tiebreaking procedure for multiple-team ties.
Tournament action will begin on Friday, Nov. 2 from American's William I Jacobs Recreational Complex. No. 1 American will play No. 4 Colgate at 11 a.m., in semifinal action. Following the first semifinal of the day, No. 2 Lehigh will face No. 3 Lafayette at 1:30 p.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups will move on to Saturday's championship game at 1 p.m.

Patriot League Field Hockey Tiebreaking Procedure
In the case of multiple ties (more than two teams tied for the same spot), the following process will be used: Note: The entire process for multiple-team ties must be completed. The Patriot League does not revert back to the two-way tie formula once the multiple-team tie has been resolved.
Records between the tied teams will be evaluated to determine if one team won more contests against the other tied institutions.
If a tie still exists, a comparison of records will be conducted for each team starting with the highest seed not involved in the tie and continuing through the lowest seed, if necessary.
Sport-Specific Tie-Breaking Procedure
A Comparison of Records versus out-of-League common opponents;
A Comparison of Winning Percentages (Division I opponents only);
