CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - A pair of Patriot League weekly award winners received additional praise when they were selected as Corvias ECAC weekly honorees on Thursday.
Lehigh's Tyler Mueller was named the Corvias ECAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time in three weeks, while American's Kati Rothenhoefer was selected as the organization's Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
Racing against a field that included nationally and regionally-ranked opponents, Mueller crossed the line in first place out of 272 runners at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday with a personal-best time of 23:36 in the 8K. It was his second first-place finish of the season, and fourth in his career. He topped his previous personal best of 23:58 set at the Paul Short Run on Oct. 5. Mueller helped Lehigh finish fifth in a 30-team field that included nationally-ranked squads Princeton, Iona and Villanova and multiple regionally-ranked teams.
Rothenhoefer scored a pair of unassisted goals over the weekend, including a tally to put the Eagles up 4-2 in the 61st minute on their way to a 4-3 upset of No. 2 Connecticut on Sunday. She finished the goal after it bounced off a Husky defender. Rothenhoefer also tallied the final goal in a 4-0 win over Towson on Friday while finishing with seven shots in the game.
A total of 37 Patriot League student-athletes have been recognized with Corvias ECAC Weekly awards in seven weeks, with Fordham's Sam Ajala and Colgate's Mike Armiento also honored in football for their performance over the weekend.
